Florida Institute of Commercialization of Florida Technology

In 2015, we recognized the Florida Institute of Commercialization of Florida Technology for its outstanding contributions to Florida’s innovation economy. At that time, the Institute had funded 42 companies based on research emerging from state-funded institutions, leveraging $13 million in state support to attract nearly $60 million in private capital investment.

Formed by the Florida Legislature in 2007, the Institute described itself as a “one-stop-shop for investors and entrepreneurs” and worked with 28 research partners across the state. Its mission is to commercialize publicly funded research and drive company creation, capital attraction, and job growth in high-impact industries.
