In 1997, Dr. Gregg Fields achieved the rank of a professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Florida Atlantic University. He returned to FAU in 2014 as a professor and chair in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the director of the Center for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Â
Dr. Fields applies chemistry in novel ways to answer important biological questions, many of which assist in the diagnosis and treatment of major diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, arthritis and cancer. Dr. Fields is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is a renowned researcher who holds six U.S. patents. The technology developed by Dr. Fields has resulted in three commercial products, currently sold by five different companies. He has authored or coauthored more than 260 scientific publications and has presented more than 190 invited lectures. Dr. Fields is a profound inspiration to the Research Park’s and FAU’s future success.
