Hon. Steven Abrams

Steven Abrams is a veteran public policy leader from Boca Raton, whose extensive service has significantly shaped South Florida’s regional landscape. As mayor of Boca Raton, Abrams gained national exposure and local respect during the first bioterrorist attack in American history when anthrax was discovered at the AMI building here in Boca Raton in 2001. He received the Distinguished Service Medal from the Israel National Police for his leadership during the ordeal and testified on national television on the government’s response at the invitation of a United States Senate subcommittee. Abrams went on to serve as a County Commissioner for two terms.

Abrams’ work in regional transportation has been instrumental in the success of the Research Park at FAU’s access to Tri-Rail and the new I-95 interchange at Spanish River Boulevard, making the Research Park at FAU the only research park to have a direct on-ramp to an interstate. We thank and appreciate Steven for all he has done for the Research Park, FAU, and the entire city of Boca Raton.Â
